Basin Baths (Sponge Baths) - Potentially Harmful

The basin bath (sponge bath) is a common bathing practice performed both in hospitals and the home. But a recent study shows that 98% of basins tested at several sites were contaminated with bacteria, including the "superbug" MRSA. 1

These wipes were introduced to us when my husband was in the hospital recently. They work excellent, for in between showers and in brief clean up times. I highly recommend them to anyone that has difficulty taking a shower or bath. Pop them in the microwave for a minute and they are nice and warm.

    Cons:
I became aware of Essential Bath® CleansingWashcloths when my husband was hospitalized this past July. They were used by hospital staff to keep him clean in place of regular bathing. As a bed-bound home patient now, I use these cloths to cleanse my husband daily. Their large size and thickness make them very suitable for all areas of his body, including diaper area clean-ups.

    Cons:
Cleans the body with a refreshing scent and dries on its own. Great for post-op surgery.
